June 25, 2010 - photo collaboration with Steve Wing
3 weeks ago, i visited Vienna + Bratislava. and came back with a whole file of images. some of those images are now being part of a developing 2-layer photo collaboration with Steve Wing. "flaming moon, Bratislava" is one of them.
i took the picture in the city centre of Bratislava, in Michaelska road, about noon. and it was only while working with it that we noticed all the details, and the coincidence in timing:
"looking at the image, i had to smile: the street is actually in Bratislava, capital of Slovakia, the newcomer country that played against Italy today in the soccer worldcup and won, against the odds.
and so many details in the image, the lamp-construction, wtih the round whirl, then the round red icon in the logo underneath, and the huge moon." - Dorothee
"All the details, as you said, plus the connection to your travel adventure. And somehow it feels like the Titanic to me, like everything is tilted, like a ship going down, and the moon is burning, and yet people still sit in a cafe. It is unsettling, disturbing, and yet also calm.
If you look closely at the lamp, it looks like a pair of eyes on the bottom.
Which fits with the camera on the wall at upper left, and also the woman in red on the right, both turned toward the viewer. It is as if this image is looking at you, too, not just you looking at it." - Steve
